Last year scientists found the bones of a three and a half foot tall ‘hobbit like’ creature who lived 18,000 years ago on a tropical island. Now we have a scenario where rival species of early humans roamed the earth, including a seven-foot tall ‘Goliath’ creature who lived in Southern Africa. Only one of these ancient creatures survived to become modern man. How did that happen and why are we the Ultimate Survivor?

It's the ultimate detective story - how did we evolve?
Last year scientists stumbled across human-like remains that shattered the existing theories of our evolution. This new evidence suggests our prehistoric ancestors did not walk the Earth alone.
From a three and a half foot tall ‘hobbit-like’ creature to a ‘Goliath’ creature over six feet tall, we had friends in all different shapes and sizes living and developing at the same time. Each species had the intelligence, skills and potential to flourish. Some evolved, others died off, and even those that gave rise to modern man may have been on the edge of extinction.
Ultimate Survivor: The Mystery of Us
follows the seven million-year-long journey around the world, from modern day Indonesia to prehistoric Europe and the African plains on a mission to find out what happened over the millennia to help us survive. Mastery of weapons, fire and even natural disasters played a part. But then, so did luck.
